What do U-value and K-value mean? Does a lower U-value imply that vacuum glass has stronger anti-frosting capabilities? Does a lower U-value indicate better thermal and sound insulation?
The heat transfer coefficient, also known as the U-value, is internationally referred to as the K-value; the measurement methods are the same, but the conditions differ. It refers to the amount of heat that passes through a unit area (1 m²) of an object (regardless of the object’s thickness) when there is a 1-degree temperature difference between its two sides, measured in units of W/m²·K. A lower U-value indicates stronger anti-frosting capabilities. (Fujian Super Tech’s SuperVIG vacuum glass product has a U-value of 0.42 W/m²·K, while LOW-E+C insulating glass has a value of 1.67 W/m²·K.) Additionally, SuperVIG vacuum glass products are classified into three grades: Grade 1 products: U-value/K-value ≤ 0.6 (international rating standard: U-value/K-value ≤ 1.0); Grade 2 products: 0.6 < U-value/K-value ≤ 1.0 (international rating standard: 1.0 < U-value/K-value ≤ 2.0); Grade 3 products: U-value/K-value > 1.0.
What does the Sc value mean? (The Sc value for vacuum glass is 0.68, and for insulating glass, it is 0.65.)
The Sc value, also known as the shading coefficient, is the ratio of the total solar energy gain coefficient (g value) to the total solar energy gain coefficient of 3mm clear float glass (0.887). This Sc value is unitless; the Sc value for SuperVIG vacuum glass is 0.68, and for insulating glass, it is 0.65.
